What is Kick Wax?
Kick wax is applied to classic skis. The kick wax is applied in the bowed area of the ski, around the middle section, to allow a skier to go up a hill. There are two main types of ski wax.
This kind of wax is applied on like a crayon to the wax pocket, or bowed area, with a wax cork. Stick wax is primarily used for fresh, cold, or transformed snow conditions. The colder the temperature the easier to apply. Each kick wax is labeled for appropriate temperatures to be used.
Klister is the messiest option for cross country skiing. This kind of wax comes in a small tube. The best way to apply Klister is to squeeze out a small portion on to the ski and then rub a thin layer over the shortened wax pocket. Klister is normally used in warm or icy snow conditions.
